- Hippuric Acid crystals are rarely seen – yellow-brown or colorless elongated prisms or plates and maybe so thin to resemble needles and they often cluster together
- it’s seen in Acidic and Neutral pH urine and are soluble in Ether
- It has little to no clinical significance but it might be seen in “ethylene glycol * ” intoxication
- it can be easily confused with Ca Oxalate monohydrate crystals or small triple phosphate crystals
Note *: Ethylene glycol is an organic compound primarily used as a raw material in the manufacture of polyester fibers and fabric industry, and polyethylene terephthalate resins used in bottling.
