MegaKaryocyte Morphology

 

Megakaryocytes are among the largest cells in the bone marrow. The nuclei generally have multiple lobes, and the cytoplasm is granular. Occasionally platelets can be seen “budding” off from the cytoplasm.
Size

  • Large Cell 40 – 100 micron in diameter

Nucleus:

  • Multi-Lobed Nucleus
  • Coarse Chromatin
  • Nucleolus present

Cytoplasma

  • Pink or light blue with purple granules
