  • the round, dark-blue granules known as basophilic stippling
  • The granules are composed of precipitated ribosomes and mitochondria in immature red blood cells
  • Basophilic Stippling seen in many cases:
  1. – lead poisoning
  2. – some drugs
  3. – severe burns
  4. – septicemia
  5. – anemia
